Hi guys!
Thursday Jasmine introduced you to the world of nude, pink and green concealers and correctors. Today I'm gonna show you the products I use to cover up my panda eyes (especially these days -.-) or pimples, if I have some. I never had acne and just have pimples occasionaly (--> PMS). My skin is super sensitive to lots of stuff, so I need concealers formulated for my certain kind of skin, aka without mineral oil, without parabens and if it's possible, unscented. I don't wanna have more spots because of my concealer ;).
1) Pimple concealer: Innisfree Mineral Perfect Concealer in 1/21
Innisfree is a korean cosmetic brand, which focuses on natural ingredients, such as green tea or vulcanic clay. For example all of their bb creams are formulated without parabens or mineral oil (yay for me) and it's not too expensive, comparable to "The Body Shop". This concealer is priced around 12$ for 8g. It has a balmy consistency and reminds me of something between the MAC Studio Finish Concealer (some say it's the korean dupe) and Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer. Colorwise it's about MAC NC 20 (light skin) and a pretty good match for me all year round.
It's described as a high coverage concealer and I certainly agree with that. After applying I look like a little baby, who never lacked a bit of sleep or never went through puberty. Jasmine likes to use a green concealer/corrector to cancel out any redness, but I don't need anything else beside this concealer to cover up my pimples.
What I don't like about this concealer is a) it's drying, why I tend to avoid this one in winter and love it in summer. It's also an argument for why I don't use this for my undereye area. A possibility to make it work is to mix it with a tiny bit of eyecream, but I don't think it's worth the hassle. There are enough better options out there. B) It begins to fade after 4 h and I have to reapply some product. C) I dislike the little pot, because it's unhygienic. You can use a small spatula or a q-tip or a clean finger, but again I don't think it eliminates all bacteria growth :/.
2) Panda Concealer: Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 01 fair
2) Panda Concealer: Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 01 fair
I have to say that this is the best undereye concealer I ever bought (Lisa Elridge loves it too ^^)! This one costs 21€ on the official Clinique page and contains 1,5 ml, which sounds like nothing, but I had this one since December 2012 and use it at least five days a week. It comes in a pen design with a flat brush at one end. You have to twist the other end to make the product come out (two twists are more than enough). The brush is easy to clean and it just dispenses concealer if you want it too :).
The product comes out all liquidy but dries into a really fine powder. Still it's not drying at all and illuminates the undereye area nicely. Opacity is light, so if you have severe undereye circles you have to skip this one. 01 Fair is really light and pink, but perfect for the area since it cancels out blue-ish shadows. For me it lasts about 8h before beginning to fade. Impressing! :)
Two major problems that come with both products are shade limitations. The Innisfree Concealer comes in two shades (1 and 2 or 21 and 23), while the Clinique Airbrush Concealer comes in three shades (Fair, Neutral Fair and Medium). Light to medium skin people will be happy, everyone else has to opt for other brands :/.
All in all, I can really recommend the Clinique Airbrush Concealer for everyone with a sensitive, drier undereye are with not too dark circles, who want an illuminating effect. For covering reasons I can recommend the Innisfree Mineral Perfect Concealer if you want a kind of high-endish concealer for a reasonable price.
Until next time, take care! :)
- Lily
