Travelling with Lily: Nice and Cote d'Azur Part 1

Hi guys!

Summertime -  Beachtime! But not so much in Germany, so my family and I packed our luggage and drove all the way (1100 km to be exact) to Nice. There, we rented a lovely appartment right in the vieille ville. So if you're there as well or are planning your next vacation, here are some tipps and tricks! ;)

1. Living
Renting an appartment is definitly a cheaper choice for four people or more. There are loads of summer appartments and renting a few months or weeks before your stay is less stressful and gives you a lot more options to choose from. Locationwise it is better to stay west from the port, but not too far away from centre ville or you'll see a lot of planes flying around, because the airport is right there.

2. Shopping
There are two main places to shop in Nice: One is the avenue Jean-Médecin and the other one is the vieille ville. Avenue Jean-Médecin holds a lot of popular shops like Sephora, H&M, Bershka, Zara, Mango, Pull&Bear, Hollister and of course, high end fashion and accessory brands like Chanel, Rolex and you name it. A smaller branch of the Galerie Lafayette is located near la place Massena and a shopping mall called Nice Etoile is about 300m away. If you're searching for drugstore cosmetics, check out Monoprix (Rimmel, Revlon, Bourjois etc.).
The vieille ville holds a lot of smaller shops. Obviously 50% of them are quite touristic, but have a look for those in the corners and the smaller alleys, where you'll be able to find nice vintage stuff, such as in the boutique Caprice (2 rue droite).

3. Let's go the beach-each, let's go get away!
Nice' beach consists of pebbles (NOT SAND), so beware! Either you bring or buy yourselfs some water shoes (highly recommended!) or you take your beach towel towards Promenade des Anglais, where the pebbles are smaller. The next sandy beaches are in Antibes or Cannes.
Anyways, if you have finally arrived in the beautiful sea, you'll see how clear and clean it is. Definitely worth the free feet massage ;).

So that's it for today. Next week I'll take you with me to find some delicious french food, explore Nice and visit Monaco et Grasse!
Take care,
xoxo Lily
