Throwback Thursday of Another Kind

As the title says I have something different for you today. Green lipstick. But not just any green lipstick. Green lipstick that turns red on your lips.

I've seen this product every time I went to a bazaar in Turkey for the last couple of years. You have to imagine a huge rummage table with lots and lots of lipsticks in no particular order and you just have to dug into it to find some goodies. (It's actually quite a lot of fun)
The lipsticks packaging is quite outstanding which is why I often grabbed it, but when I opened the lid (it is quite normal for the products not to be sealed), and realized the lipstick is green, I threw it right back into the pile of cosmetics.

But this year I went there with my cousin, and I for some reason I grabbed the lipstick again, opened it (as always) and when I realized it was that lipstick, I looked t my cousin and asked her: "WHO would wear that?!" and she looked at me saying: "My Mom." Honestly guys, you should have seen my facial expression, I was in shock. I seriously thought this was a simple green lipstick - but far wrong.
The saleslady and my cousin told me that the lipstick turns red on your lips, depending on your natural lip color and because it was only about 2€ I didn't really hesitate buying it. They than told me that this lipstick has a really old formula that their moms used decades ago to give their lips a nice hint of color. (Therefore: TBT ;) )

Now onto the product itself.

Brand: Alfeen Magic Lipstick

Packaging: The packaging is golden plastic and therefore really, really lightweight, but still looks kinda fancy.

Scent: Heavenly! It smells super sweet, kind of like bubblegum - I really like it :)

Color: Well, the lipsticks color itself is neon green, but the true color is a deep pinkish-reddish color, depending on your own lip color of course. The color is very buildable, on my own lips, the first coat makes you lips look "bitten", as if you just ate a handful of cherries. The second color turns really pink along my inner lip line and the third layer (and every other coat afterwards) turns mauve on the outside, while the middle is still very pink. It's a nice effect and something different, a little bit ombré. I've never seen a similar color, so it's nice to have this one added to my lipstick family.
Also the color darkens slightly throughout the day.

Alfeen Magic Stick

Durability: Very long. The color stays on your lips for many, many hours (I'd say something around 12-14 hours in my case). I even still had a stain on my lips the next day, which might be due to the chemicals inside the lipstick (gosh, I don't even wanna think about it...) The color doesn't come off at all, only the first time you blot your lips, but after that it stays on your lips forever! But to be honest I'd actually see this as a downside as well, because it is really difficult (almost impossible) to remove.

Extra: You can also apply it to your cheeks and wear it as a blush.

Price: 5 Lira - a bit less than 2€, so all in all a really good deal :)


I wouldn't recommend wearing it daily, but sometimes it's a really nice alternative to common colors.
